What is plastic injection molding?
Plastic injection molding is a highly efficient forming process that involves heating thermoplastic or thermosetting plastic pellets to a molten state, injecting them under high pressure into the cavities of precision molds, and then cooling and setting them to produce the desired plastic products.
This process features high forming precision, excellent dimensional consistency, high production efficiency, and suitability for mass production. It enables the single-step molding of products with complex structures and intricate details.
Injection Molding Working Principle
The working principle of injection molding involves adding plastic raw material into the hopper of an injection molding machine. Within the heating barrel, electric heating and the shearing action of the rotating screw gradually melt and uniformly plasticize the plastic, forming a melt with excellent flow properties to prepare for subsequent molding.
After the mold closes, the screw advances forward, injecting the molten plastic into the mold cavity under high pressure. Holding pressure compensates for material shrinkage. Once the plastic cools and solidifies, the mold opens, and the ejector mechanism removes the finished part, completing a stable and efficient injection molding cycle.
